What is the T4EU Stakeholder Challenge?

The T4EU Stakeholder Challenge is an event requiring no more than three days of intervention in which students and academic staff from all Universities of the Transform4Europe Alliance come together in international teams to work on a problem raised by a Stakeholder.

The Challenge has multiple objectives: on the one hand, participants have the opportunity to develop creativity, problem solving aptitude, and cooperation; on the other hand, the Stakeholder has the chance to encourage innovation, experimentation, and the development or improvement of their own products or services.

The Stakeholder Challenge is an eyes-opener for more creative ways of thinking and working, indeed, it should be conceived as a moment when, outside of their daily study and work, participants come together to focus on a particular problem and think broadly about how to solve it.

Participants are organized into teams that are usually formed so to involve as many different backgrounds (therefore points of view) as possible.  The belief behind these multidisciplinary and international teams is that collaboration in diversity can give rise to wide-ranging solutions.

The Challenge, then, is not just about improving a product or service, but it is an occasion for students and academic staff to build an international network, to learn new skills and professions while the Stakeholder has the opportunity to engage with outside viewpoints, new talents, and the need for innovation. The Stakeholder Challenge therefore does not only concern the problem that the Stakeholder brings, or the new product/solution that emerged from the Challenge, but the ripple effect that is produced by the development of new knowledge.
