Mediation with the Teaching Staff

What is the service about:

The enrolled disabled student who has submitted a request for services accepted by the Commission will manage his/her relationship with the Teaching Staff independently. He/she can then choose to inform the Professors about the measures he/she is entitled to regarding classes and taking exams or he/she can choose to not inform them.

However, if the contact with a Professor turns out to be more complex, the student may request assistance from the Disability Service, who will make contact with the Professor, explain the situation and establish a targeted intervention based on the diagnosis.

All steps are agreed with the student and the Service acts only on request and with the permission of the disabled person.

It is not necessary to choose just one way of dealing with the teaching Staff for the whole university career; it is possible to evaluate the most appropriate solution from time to time.

Besides these two options ( direct contact or mediated by the Service ), please note that the student, for issues related to teaching or the curriculum, can also contact the Tutors for disability in the various departments.

We must stress that in no case will the Disability Service submit the certificate filed nor reveal the contents to third parties, not even the Teaching Staff.

How to request the service:

The service must be requested by contacting the Disability Service. If the request for mediation is linked  to an examination / test, the service must be requested by contacting the Disability Service at least 15 working days before the examination.
