The classes will be held at the "emiciclo" hall in the building Q of the University of Trieste, via Giorgieri 5 by prof. Natasa Karas Kuzelicki of the University of Lubiana (Slovenia). The classes will be in english.
Pharmacogenomics in pediatric oncology
The introductory part of the lecture will cover the basic concepts in pharmacogenomics, with the focus on pediatric perspective. This will be followed by the review of the high and moderate levels of evidence drug-gene pairs with relevance to pediatric oncology, with focus on thiopurine drugs and acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In the final section some clinical cases will be presented to demonstrate challenges of PGx use in pediatric oncology. The lecture will be followed by hands-on workshop, where students will learn about useful genetics and PGx data-bases and basic bioinformatic tools.
