Glioma stem cells, microenvironment and exosomes
When:
03/11/2016 - 03/24/2016

We have optimized patient-based in vitro models representative of glioma cells and their microenvironment. This allowed us to define how the microenvironmental cells, through the release of exosomes, could enhance the aggressiveness of glioma stem cells (GSC). Similarly, exosomes released by GSC could modulate the biological properties of normal astrocytes inducing an activated phenotype and stem-like features. Studying the tumor-stroma interplay could open the way to new therapeutic approaches aimed at interfering with a vicious cross-talk possibly responsible for tumor progression.
