Technological and digital advances in orthodontics

The main research interest is in the diagnosis and treatment of orthodontic and temporomandibular disorders, with a focus on the integration of new technologies and digital tools in the orthodontic workflow. Operating at the Clinica di Chirurgia Maxillofacciale e Odontostomatologia of the University of Trieste, our research team is characterized by a highly clinical approach.
Research activity is currently focused on:
- Craniofacial growth patterns, skeletal maturity indicators, and functional treatment.
- 3D evaluation of the accuracy of miniscrews insertion.
- A new experimental setup for mechanical analysis of orthodontic clear aligners.
- New activation protocol for hybrid palate expander in the treatment of Class III malocclusions
- In-vitro evaluation of primary stability of different TADs systems.
- Evaluation of Oral Behaviours in patients with TMD and chronic pain.
Collaboration with the Dental Materials Laboratory at the Ospedale Maggiore (Trieste) and many Italian and foreign universities give our research team an interdisciplinary and international background.
