The Circular Economy PhD at the T4EU events in Katowice

When:

Between 24th and 28th of April 2023 Luciana Bartolini and Chiara Marinelli, two of our 38th cycle students, participated in the events organised by the University of Silesia in Katowice in the context of the Transform for Europe Alliance (T4EU). In total, 28 students from the University of Trieste attended the Festival of European Culture and the T4EU Week events organised by the Polish partner of T4EU in those days.

Chiara and Luciana joined both the events of the Festival of European Culture and the PhD conference organised by the University of Silesia in the two locations of Katowice and Cieszyn.
After the welcome day organised to open the Festival, in the second day the students participated in the movie-making workshops in Katowice at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School, as well as in the concert that was held in the afternoon.

On their third day, instead, the two PhD candidates presented their works at the ‘City, Liberty, Innovation’ PhD Conference that was held in three days (25th-27th April) in different locations of Katowice. They presented their projects within the Political and Social Sciences track and, after that, could join the networking lunch with their fellows from the other T4EU universities. Particularly, Luciana presented as co-author the paper ‘Growth, Lockdown and the Dynamics of the Covid-19 Pandemic’, while Chiara the project proposal ‘A sustainability evaluation of EGTC GO in light of SDGs’. The public was attentive during the two presentations and engaged in discussions with them, showing their interest in their works.

After the conference, Luciana and Chiara moved to Cieszyn for the last day of the Festival of European Culture and had the chance to enjoy a tour in the local Silesian mountains, where participants were presented with local traditional manufacturing processes for laces and typical cheese-making procedures.

In the end, the two students positively evaluated the overall experience and showed eagerness to joining further initiatives organised in the context of the T4EU Alliance. They believe that these events are precious for both job and personal growth and kindly encourage students from all the universities of the Alliance to follow T4EU and joint its events, hoping for a large participation in the forthcoming T4EU Week in Trieste, too.
