Katia obtained her degree as a Psychologist at UNAM in Mexico City, and completed her Master studies in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Trento and SISSA, where she explored the role that Artificial Intelligence can play in decoding human emotion. After obtaining her master's degree, Katia worked for two years as a behavioral scientist for a software company with operations in several countries of Latin America. During this time, she developed an interest for sustainable tourism and participated in the Hospitality Challenge launched by the UNWTO with a proposal that aimed to nudge travellers into choosing remote and unknown destinations in order to diversify tourism income and strengthen local communities. Her proposal was selected among the 30 finalists and she was awarded with a scholarship to study a second masters in Hospitality Strategy and Digital Transformation at Les Roches Crans-Montana, Switzerland. Katia is currently a first year student of the PhD in Circular Economy where she aims to apply behavioral science principles to raise climate awareness and foster environmentally conscious behaviors.
