Course description: 

The course is aimed at discussing the origins, the evolution and the recent developments of the large body of research related to the Modern Theories of the Firm. It examines economic approaches to the classic issues of strategic and business management. Topics include "outside the firm" areas of research as well as "inside the firm" areas, such as Corporate Governance and Agency Theories of the Firm, Transaction Cost Economics, the Resource Based View of the Firm, and Purpose of the Firm, Corporate Social Responsibility and ESG criteria.
