Materials, Environment and Energy (MEE)

The Materials, Environment and Energy (MEE) research group is active within the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Trieste. The research activities of MEE are focused on the development and characterization of nanostructured materials employed in environmental protection, sensing and sustainable production of energy vectors and fuels. In the last years, relevant attention has been devoted to the development of photocatalysts and electrocatalysts for the production of solar fuels and/or high added-value chemicals using renewable raw materials and energy sources (direct solar light or electrical power derived from solar light, respectively). The design of the materials follows a bottom-up approach, in which the control at the nanoscale of the components plays a crucial role in obtaining elevated performance.
